This class focuses on the theoretical foundations of the TK, a fundamental shibari tie.
The TK is versatile and incorporates many essential elements, such as tension, body mechanics, frictions, and safety considerations.
Gorgone emphasizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach due to differences in style, priorities, body types, and needs.Key topics covered include:
• Variations of the TK: Exploring different styles and adaptations based on individual requirements.
• Safety and Placement: Understanding nerve safety and effective rope placement to avoid injuries.
• Building Blocks of Rope Bondage: Learning how the TK integrates core techniques like tension control and body manipulation.
• Insights from experience: Gorgone shares over a decade of knowledge in practicing and refining this tie.
This class sets the stage for practical applications by providing a comprehensive understanding of the TK’s structure and purpose.
Gorgone
(she/they) is a French rope switch and co-founder of Shibari Study.
Their method and approach to rope is deeply influenced by their interest and personal practice of conscious movement together with 10+ years of intense professional experience on both sides of the rope.
Their teaching is directed to both riggers and models, guiding them into developing active, conscious and efficient partnerships in order to create safer and more successful rope experiences.
She takes time to deconstruct everything she teaches, from the most basic to the most complex ties, and always addresses both the rope’s and body’s mechanics of a tie or position. Her pedagogy focuses on encouraging and developing technical autonomy, freedom and creativity in the student’s practice while maintaining a fundamental background of safety, knowledge and awareness.
With Gorgone you will not only learn the ‘how’ but also the ‘why’ behind each tie so you can adapt or modify a harness or position to each new partner and situation and fully incorporate it into your own unique practice.
The heart of Gorgone's tying and teaching is the idea that Shibari is not about "rope - on the body” but about "the body - in rope".
